What is "skip tracing"? - Skip tracing refers to the process of locating the owner of a property by obtaining contact information such as mobile phone numbers, landlines, and email addresses.
Why is having quality skip traced data important? - Skip tracing with BatchLeads will ultimately bring your cost per lead and cost per contract down because you won't be wasting money on bad data. We aggregate our data from top-tier credit bureaus and when you export your skip traced list, BatchLeads will always provide a score on how confident we are that the phone numbers are accurate.

There are 2 main places you can skip trace addresses within BatchLeads. This guide will show you how to import a file into 'Skip Trace' in the menu.

Start by clicking on "skip trace" from your menu and then click on "import" (shown in the image below in thetop right).
You'll need to upload a file from your computer which will need to be in CSV file format. If you'd like to learn a simple way to convert an XLSX file to CSV, watch the video guide above. If your file is in CSV format, select it and upload it to this page in BatchLeads.
Once it finished uploading, click the blue arrow to move forward and start mapping out the data fields.
The first thing you'll notice is the option to "self-manage" your imported addresses. In most cases you'll just leave it as "no" to leave it up to BatchLeads to update the property records automatically. If you have a "probate list" you're importing, "yes" will allow you to add a different name, mailing address, Etc., but BatchLeads will not update those property records for those.
"Sources fields" refer to the file you are importing and the columns of information that live within that said file. "Destination fields" refer to where you'll be plugging those columns of information into BatchLeads.
TIP: If you have both a property address and a mailing address, we recommend mapping out both fields. This will lead to a higher hit percentage with your result.
Once you finish matching all f the desired data, click the blue arrow to finish.
Now you'll need to save it to an existing or new list and tag. In the example below, the user is importing a list of Vacant Properties August 2022, so they have placed it in their "Vacant" master lists (we think of these as your master filing cabinets) and under a new tag that is specific to this list name "Vacant Properties August 2022" (we think of tags as the file folders you place into your master filing cabinets).
A good Practice is having your Lists named after a broad pain point and then naming your Tags in a way that indicates exactly what types of properties are in that folder. (Example: The area or market you obtained the list from, specific pain points or filters used to pull the list and the date)
BatchLeads will never charge you for properties that don't return information or that are duplicates already within your account, so it will give you an estimated cost to give you an idea of what it will cost if there are no duplicates and if all properties come back with contact information. You can pay with your credit balance or pay now if the order is going to be $50 or more. Click "Skip trace" to finish!
In the example image below, you'll notice the name of the file, the total number of records you submitted, the number of total hits, the hit percentage, any matches (or duplicates) your savings and total cost!
